Protagonist comes across as formal and well organised – professional
Sudden contrast from calm normality of man to dead body
Looks as normal murder, but it may not be
Contrasts between two main protagonists – ones naïve and the other is experienced
Follows traditional conventions of thriller
Prominent protagonist asserts his authority
Freeman seems lonely – quite mysterious – in the way of props and sound
Mysterious opening sequence – makes the audience feel uncomfortable – lots of ECU used to emphasise the horror of the unfolding events
He rubbed out the word "homosexual" could be a motive for his murders
He seems quite agitated
Pitt seems more humane than freeman
When tghey go in the house it follows traditional conventions of a thriller – poorly lit, music building suspense, their faces silhouetted
Film based on 7 deadly sins, the fat victim could represent gluttony
His feet are tied together, indicates murder
Victim lived a poor quality of life, murderer could feel killing him is justice
