Title Openings

Goldfinger

Its effective as it projects images on to regular objects, but with a gold shade of colour, this and the song which constantly repeats “goldfinger” reminds the audience of the title of the film which creates relativity. The title sequence also foreshadows some of the upcoming events in the film, this lets the audience know what to expect in the film. The music also gradually gets louder and more dramatic, thus creating tension. It starts the same way as it ends, this could indicate some significance within the film.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

This title sequence features relatively simple animations and blood splatters, but this twinned with some of the most famous cowboy music ever composed, makes it an extremely iconic title sequence. It also uses some foreshadowing as some of the images could represent future events in the film. The opening sequence has no dialogue or anyone singing, it just has the music playing, this creates a dramatic effect as the music is easily recognisable and many people will refer to the film just by the music.

Reservoir Dogs

This title sequence immediately starts by introducing the audience to the main protagonists and the actors who play them. Its simplicity adds to the effectiveness as it starts with some happy, relaxing music with the protagonists walking calmy along. The camera is almost distorted as the protagonists seem to be walking along too slowly, a clever ploy used by Tarrantino to create some tension. The title sequence then quickly reverts to 30 seconds of credits on a black background, to stop the audience from getting bored of this, straight away the audience sees a bloody man in the back of a car, indidcatiing that these men are gangsters.

I, Robot.
This title sequence immediately puts the audience in peril as we are read the rules of robots, and at the same time the audience witnesses a girl drowning in a car. this shocks the audience as we’re not expecting it, perhaps foreshadowing the rest of the film. The camera moves fluidly and quickly between the rules and the girl drowning, this presents chaotic behaviour and makes the audience feel uncomfortable
