The Butterfly Effect analysis

Lighting - Light is typical as the film starts very dark to build suspense.
Light is distorted.

Props - Boy holds knife.Journal is the main prop – writes everything down   His father is shackled, looks like a prisoner, very dangerousDysfunctional family, lack of father figure.    Prop - He has to go on a quest to save her.
Go fathers illness, mother wants to know more
Father attacks him, he blacks out so the audience is confused
Quote at start of film; foreshadowing future events.
 Setting -Wide open space, typical American suburb – realistic setting.
Normal childhood.
    Sound - Music builds tension when he holds knife
Music gets faster to build pace and draw audience in
Fast paced
  Mystery – boy holds knife, we don’t know whats going to happen.
Gender – male dominance
 
 
Editing - Quick editing between shots to panick the audienceChanges time, 13 years earlier. 
 
Camera shots - Uses long shots to show the whole scene; shows suburbs.Camera constantly follows him, doesn’t cut between shots; pans with him as he moves.
